FAQ About RESERVATIONS AND CANCELLATIONS
How do I know you have space available?
If you reserve 7 to 10 days in advance you have a 90% chance we have space for you on one of our boats. We recommend you send in your reservation complete with your credit card information and if space is not available we will call and tell you when space is available. So be sure to include your phone number on your reservation form.
Is it possible to make a fishing reservation when I get to Puerto Escondido?
We do recommend you make your fishing reservations as far in advance as possible so that you are sure to get your fishing trip when you want to go. During the high season from November to April there are many times we have no boats available 2-3 days in advance. To reserve once you arrive in Puerto Escondido call our office in Cancun at 998- 898-4312. If you are still in the US or Canada dial 1-800-860-5917.
What is your cancellation policy?
You can cancel any fishing trip up to 24 hours before departure and only pay a 5% administrative processing fee. If the trip is cancelled because the port is closed by the port captain then you will receive a 100% refund. Click Here! To see all Cancellation and Change Policy.
Is the pricing on the website correct?
Yes. The prices are accurate and complete meaning that there are no additional charges. At the end of the trip a “tip” is optional, generally between 15% - 20% of the fish trip price depending on how successful your crew was for you.
FAQ About THE BOATS
How many people can go on the boat?
Our boats are Mexican-style fishing boats often refereed to as “pangas” or “tiburoneras.” They will accommodate up to 4 people.
Do you have English speaking captains?
Our captains and crew speak at least “fishing English.” The language will not be a problem.
Do the boats have a bathroom on board?
No. There are no bathrooms on board the boats.
Do I need to bring anything?
We do recommend you bring a hat and sunglasses and sun block.
Food is not provided on the 4 hour trip but is on the 6 and 8 hour trips. So you may want to bring a lunch or snacks on the 4 hour trip. Should you want to buy something last minute ask the driver that picks you up at your hotel to make a stop. As far as fishing tackle is concerned you do not need to bring anything. We provide all tackle needed however if you have some favorite lures or other equipment you want to bring please do so.
Will I get seasick?
Seasickness depends on the individual and the conditions of the sea the day you go fishing. We recommend that if you do not know if you get seasick that you take a commercial motion sickness medication or use the wrist bands or patches that go behind the ear. Why take a chance? By the way the latest research of seasickness shows that Ginger Pills from the local health food store are as good as any other seasickness medication without the side effects.
FAQ About THE FISHING
Will I catch a fish?
While it is called “fishing” and “catching” you can be assured that the crew will do their best to put you on the fish. There are no guarantees in a 4 or 6 hour trip. Our guarantee for our 8 hour trip is simple. If you do not catch fish in an 8 hour trip we will take fishing again for 4, 6, or 8 hours with a 50% discount! Please review the fishing calendar to see your chances for the specific specie you desire.
What can we expect to catch?
What you will catch depends on the time of year you come fishing.

Do you do trolling or bottom fishing?
When you go fishing you decide if we go trolling or bottom fishing. We generally start out trolling and later in the day try bottom fishing.
We want to catch “ bill fish.” What do you recommend?
If you really want bill fish like sails and Marlin we recommend take an 8 hour charter. You enhance your chances.
Also, tell the captain at check in that your main interest is billfish.
How much travel time, non-fishing time, is there?
The fishing grounds are about 20 to 30 minutes from the dock.
What kind of bait do you use?
We use ballyhoo, mullet, Bonita, and lures. We will vary the baits depending on the fish available at the particular time of year you go that we think will give the best results.
Do you catch and release?
Game fish which are not edible (sailfish, and marlin) generally are released unless the client feels strongly about taking them in to shore. If you want to mount a fish then those fish are brought in so we can send them off to be mounted.
I want to mount my catch. Can I do that?
Yes the staff at the dock will arrange everything for you.
How much tip should I give?
Generally for good to excellent service a 15% to 20% tip is given if the crew is appropriate.

We will prepare your catch 4 different ways. Then you decide which your favorite is. By the way, your catch will generally be enough for the entire family; they may eat with you for an additional $5 USD per person drinks not included. This will be a very economical way for you to have dinner for the entire family or your group.
What are the best fish to take to eat?
The best fish for your dinner will be Dorado (Mahi Mahi,) Yellow Fin Tuna, Rooster fish Needle fish, Mackerel, Snapper, and Grouper. Any of these will make for an unforgettable dinner. Don’t worry the captain will assist you en selecting the best for dinner.
Can I take fish back to the U.S. in an ice chest?
You can but we do not recommend it. Since security has been tightened at all airports worldwide we do not recommend you try to take edible fish back to the U.S. First the airlines no longer accept Styrofoam ice chest, and securing dry ice in Puerto Escondido will cost you more time and effort than it is worth. Then you will have delays on arrival in the U.S. while your baggage is checked. We recommend that you eat your fish here in Puerto Escondido and savory your vacation memories.
